Well, I’m about to get my motor running and head out on the highway—not looking for adventure, just heading to a high school graduation in Texas—but I’m preparing for whatever comes my way. Because even though I wasn’t born to be wild, I’m capable of having fun once in a while.
I’m taking a week off to spend some time with my family, but not before I leave you with a good tune to wrap up the week.
“Born to Be Wild” is a song by Steppenwolf, a Canadian-American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1967. The song was released in 1968 and reached the number 2 spot on the U.S. Billboard chart that same year. It’s a great song and proof that the U.S. and Canada are capable of doing amazing things—especially when politicians aren’t involved.
I hope you enjoy the video, and have a wonderful, Rockin’ Thursday! See you in a week, my friends.
You can access the lyrics here.
A great song. I don’t listen to music when I travel. I try to listen to audiobooks but I nearly always go to sleep.

That’s funny. I tried audiobooks a few times, but I got sleepy while driving, so it’s not a good mix.

Have a wonderful time Edward! Reunions are always eye openers aren’t they! Fun to reconnect! I wonder if I already knew that you went to school in Texas? I was born in Odessa, my parents went to Odessa high school way back when.
Enjoy! I will also be leaving tomorrow for a few weeks!

I went to school in Puerto Rico, but my brother-in-law is working with Border Patrol in Texas, and his kids are graduating from high school. Family reunions are always fun. Enjoy your trip, my friend.

When I finally cut and ran from my psycho first husband with just my baby and two small bags it was still back in the days of 8-tracks ~ and this was the only one in the truck. Arkansas to California, remembering wild again.

8-tracks, wow, I remember those. At least this is a good song for a long trip.

This song was HUGE when I was in high school. Then it appeared in too many movies and TV commercials. Bummer.

That’s true, but it’s because it’s so good. We’ve got to keep the song alive for the younger generations. Thank you, Liz. 🎶

That is such a classic song. I would say it defines the late sixties era. Very popular tune for soundtracks! Have a great trip.

As soon as I read the first couple of words in your post, I thought “Steppenwolf!” And my next thought was, “I wonder if Edward knows they were a Canadian band” … Of course you knew! And, and other “of course”, … this is on many of my walking playlists.. both because it’s from my era, and because it’s a great exercise tune that definitely gets your motor runnin’ 😊

It was while I rode across Canada and when I took 101 down the west coast from Seattle to San Diageo. Then I crossed the border and rode through the desert on the Baja in Mexico
