For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m featuring “Summer of ’69” by Bryan Adams, a Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, and photographer. The song was released in 1985 and reached the number 5 spot on the U.S. Billboard charts that same year. The video is from this year, and at 65, the man is still rocking it!
I know some in my WP community were “young and restless” back in the summer of 1969, so I hope you enjoy the video and have a wonderful Rockin’ Thursday!!
You can access the lyrics here.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs! 🎶 It never gets old, and wow, he’s still got it. 😎 Such a fun video! 😂 Funny enough, I was born in the fall of ’69 🍂

Thank you, Willie. I guess you were too little to be part of the “young and restless.”

Fun song. I think I saw Bryan Adams at the Minneapolis outdoor bandstand one year in the 1990s!

That’s cool. I remember the first time I heard one of his songs. It was the soundtrack for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner. “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You”—what a beautiful song.

I liked that movie, but I wonder how the heroine went from defending herself to being helpless? 😉 I know that song of his well.

As a Canadian … I’m familiar with much of Bryan Adams’ work. Although this tune was released in 1985, when I had pretty much traded in rocking for the busyness of career, married life, and raising our daughter … I very much enjoy it now and it’s on one of my power walking playlists.

Something so timeless and familiar to nearly everyone in the lines,
“Standin’ on your mama’s porch
You told me that it’d last forever
Oh, and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never…”

Funny story… I called in and got through to a radio station as a teenager and was able to speak to Bryan Adams. 😂

I recorded the interview with my little cassette player. 🤣 Unfortunately, that tape is long gone. Funny to think back on that, thank you for the reminder. 🎶

Crowd seems to know all the words – wow.

I know, right? I watched another video of one of his concerts in a larger stadium, and that crowd was definitely into his music. They sang a big chunk of the beginning of one of his songs.

I remember this song very well. I always liked it. As for the summer of ’69, I was about to enter 9th grade.

So, you were one of the “young and restless”—just kidding! I think I was one of the “young and restless” when I was 17 or 18. I like his songs, and he is a great musician. Thank you for visiting, Liz.
