Rockin’ Thursday XLIII

For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m featuring “You’re No Good” performed by Linda Ronstadt. The song, written by Clint Ballard Jr., was first performed by Dee Dee Warwick for Jubilee Records in 1963. It has since been covered by many artists, including charting versions by Betty Everett in 1963, The Swinging Blue Jeans in 1964, and Linda Ronstadt in 1974. Ronstadt’s version became a number-one hit in the United States in 1975.1

Linda Maria Ronstadt is an American singer who has performed and recorded in diverse genres, including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music. She was born in Tucson, Arizona, and her father was of Mexican descent.2 She sings beautifully in Spanish, showcasing her cultural heritage.

I’m including one of her songs from her album Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of My Father) so you can experience the extraordinary singing abilities of this remarkable artist.

I hope you enjoy both videos and have a wonderful Rockin’ Thursday!

    1. Right? She has an amazing voice, and not many singers can hit the range on that particular Spanish song like she did. It’s just spectacular. Her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies were very moving. Thank you, Liz, and I’m glad that enjoyed the music.
