For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m featuring “You’re No Good” performed by Linda Ronstadt. The song, written by Clint Ballard Jr., was first performed by Dee Dee Warwick for Jubilee Records in 1963. It has since been covered by many artists, including charting versions by Betty Everett in 1963, The Swinging Blue Jeans in 1964, and Linda Ronstadt in 1974. Ronstadt’s version became a number-one hit in the United States in 1975.1
Linda Maria Ronstadt is an American singer who has performed and recorded in diverse genres, including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music. She was born in Tucson, Arizona, and her father was of Mexican descent.2 She sings beautifully in Spanish, showcasing her cultural heritage.
I’m including one of her songs from her album Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of My Father) so you can experience the extraordinary singing abilities of this remarkable artist.
I hope you enjoy both videos and have a wonderful Rockin’ Thursday!
love both of those.. Love Linda! 💗

Oops … My mistake, Edward! I was thinking of Rita Coolidge with Kristofferson. 🤦♀️

Don’t worry. I’m actually watching them sing “Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends.” Beautiful song.

Hi, Edward. I love her. Thanks for putting this great song in my head. You’re No Good is one of my favorites for my “self prescribed Karaoke therapy.” Sends both cats flying out of the room when I start wailing that! LOL. Hugs

😂 That’s funny, Teagan. Well, I was singing it yesterday, and my dog gave me a weird look, so I guess we need to work on our vocals.

Linda Ronstadt is one of my all time favourite female artists. I especially love many of her duets with Kris Kristofferson.

I’ve never heard them sing together, so I might need to search for one of their songs. I bet they sound amazing. Thank you, Terry.

😂 Hey, I know a lot of Lindas, and they’re all cool. I know her parents messed up her name and called her Lynda instead of Linda, but I’m counting her as one of the cool Lindas. You’re in my top 20.

I enjoyed both songs, particularly the one she sang in Spanish. I didn’t realize that her vocal range was that large.

Right? She has an amazing voice, and not many singers can hit the range on that particular Spanish song like she did. It’s just spectacular. Her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies were very moving. Thank you, Liz, and I’m glad that enjoyed the music.

Yes, that album is special to me. Once, I had pneumonia in the late 80s and Canciones de mi padre was on public television. It felt like a gift from above. It was so uplifting.
