Rockin’ Thursday XL

For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m featuring You Give Love a Bad Name by the American rock band Bon Jovi, released in 1986 as part of their album Slippery When Wet. The song reached the number 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard that same year. Something I didn’t know is that the chorus tune of You Give Love a Bad Name was originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler under the title If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man). Enjoy the video, and have a wonderful, Rockin’ Thursday!

  1. Excellent choice! A fantastic song from one of Bon Jovi’s best albums; truly a perfect tribute to such a humble soul. Couldn’t be a better pick for Rockin’ Thursday.

  2. You promised me heaven, then put me through hell. You give love a bad name. So many good lines in this song. If you’ve been through such a relationship, you shout this song along with Bon Jovi. Great choice, Edward.

    1. So many but here are some of them. Rock: Maná, Los Enanitos Verde, Alejandra Guzman. Pop: Mecano, Miguel Bosé, Emmanuel. Balads: Luis Miguel, Daniela Romo, José José, Ednita Nazario. I also, like the ones that you mentioned.

        1. That’s true. I typically listen to songs from the ’60s to now, but I always go back to the ’80s because they’re special. And the Spanish songs—OMG, beautiful! I grew up listening to both, so my playlist is full of English and Spanish songs from the ’80s.
