For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m featuring You Give Love a Bad Name by the American rock band Bon Jovi, released in 1986 as part of their album Slippery When Wet. The song reached the number 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard that same year. Something I didn’t know is that the chorus tune of You Give Love a Bad Name was originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler under the title If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man). Enjoy the video, and have a wonderful, Rockin’ Thursday!
You can access the lyrics here.
Great song, Edward! I’ve never really listened to the lyrics before. I appreciate you writing them out!

Thank you, Cindy. I’m glad you enjoyed the post, and by the way, thank you for your recommendation about adding the lyrics. I should have done that from the beginning.

Excellent choice! A fantastic song from one of Bon Jovi’s best albums; truly a perfect tribute to such a humble soul. Couldn’t be a better pick for Rockin’ Thursday.

Bon Jovi I read is also a really good and kind human being too!

He is. Not sure if you saw the news about him saving a woman who was about to jump off a bridge.

You promised me heaven, then put me through hell. You give love a bad name. So many good lines in this song. If you’ve been through such a relationship, you shout this song along with Bon Jovi. Great choice, Edward.

I’d like to get recommendations for the Spanish language artists you like. Maná? Chayanne? Juan Luis Guerra? Pablo Milanes?

So many but here are some of them. Rock: Maná, Los Enanitos Verde, Alejandra Guzman. Pop: Mecano, Miguel Bosé, Emmanuel. Balads: Luis Miguel, Daniela Romo, José José, Ednita Nazario. I also, like the ones that you mentioned.

I can’t believe the song came out 38 years ago. It feels like yesterday.

Wow, 80s big hair to the max! : ) So much energy in their music. Great song.

I know, right? The big hair and energy from that decade were awesome! I think the ’80s was the best decade, but the ’70s were a close second.

Well, I am a bit biased since those were formative years. Almost every decade has music that shines through.

That’s true. I typically listen to songs from the ’60s to now, but I always go back to the ’80s because they’re special. And the Spanish songs—OMG, beautiful! I grew up listening to both, so my playlist is full of English and Spanish songs from the ’80s.
