Rockin’ Thursday LX

I heard this song yesterday and was instantly hooked. I figured I’d share it with the community, and hopefully you’ll enjoy it too. Today, I’m featuring “Worthy” by Mavis Staples. She’s an American rhythm and blues and gospel singer, as well as a civil rights activist. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—first in 1999 as part of the Staple Singers, and again in 2019 for her solo work.1

This incredible lady is 85 years old, about to turn 86 in July, and she’s still rocking it. By the way, “Worthy” was released just last year.2 She is an incredible singer.

I couldn’t find a video of her performing it live in concert or at an event. The below YouTube video was the only thing I was able to find.

Here’s part of the lyrics:

Facing judgment (Judgment), even at your highs
If they don’t see it, you can let ’em doubt
And when they try to kick you, don’t let yourself get down
Better know you’re, hey
Hope you know you’re, hey
Hope you know you’re

[Chorus]
Oh-oh-oh, you’re worthy
Oh-oh-oh, you’re worthy
Oh-oh-oh, you’re worthy (Worthy)
Oh-oh-oh (Worthy)

Life’s tough sometimes, and it might feel like the world’s against you. But don’t forget—you’re worthy. So keep smiling, doing your thing, and don’t stress about what anyone else says. Hope you enjoy the video and have an awesome, Rockin’ Thursday!
