The sun is finally here in the beautiful Quad Cities. We’ve enjoyed a nice week of sunlight that melted all the remaining snow around the neighborhood, so it felt appropriate to feature Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.
I’m sure the whole universe knows The Beatles and that it’s an English rock band that formed in Liverpool, England, in 1960. Here Comes the Sun was released in 1969 as part of the album Abbey Road and was written by George Harrison. Here’s what he said about the song:
“‘Here Comes the Sun’ was written at the time when Apple was getting like school, where we had to go and be businessmen: ‘Sign this’ and ‘sign that.’ Anyway, it seems as if winter in England goes on forever, by the time spring comes you really deserve it. So one day I decided I was going to sag off Apple and I went over to Eric Clapton’s house. The relief of not having to go see all those dopey accountants was wonderful, and I walked around the garden with one of Eric’s acoustic guitars and wrote ‘Here Comes the Sun.”1
I hope you enjoy the video, and have a wonderful Rockin’ Thursday!

Such a perfect choice for a sunny Thursday (Although I am seeing this on a Tuesday – hahaha)… You can never go wrong with a Beatles song, and “Here Comes the Sun” is just perfect. It captures that feeling of relief and renewal so well. Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine…

With spring finally here, I hope to see the sun more! It’s been rainy, cloudy, cold….spread a little sunshine this way if you find it! Great choice for you rocking Thursday!

Thank you, Melissa. The week started off a bit rough with a couple of tornado warnings, but at least the weather is improving. Today was sunny and in the mid-50s.

Long winter disturbs my wife too. In 2023, our daughter took her to Munich in winter. She did not like weather.

Thank you, Laura. Well, the sun is gone today. Some wicked weather is passing through, but the coffee is absolutely doing its job—keeping me warm and happy. ☕️☕️

Love that song! It’s too bad “the quiet Beatle” didn’t really get his turn at bat until late in their careers. John and Paul tended to dominate the songs but George showed promise from early on. Also liked “Something” on that same album 😎

“Something” is an awesome song. You’re absolutely right, and that happens to us—the quiet types—most of the time.

That’s a great song and I have it on several of my walking playlists as a warm up tune.

Thank you! The flowers are coming. I know the birds are already looking for places to nest. I need to fix the birdhouse so we can have a family move in.
