Rockin’ Thursday XXVIII

Today, I’m featuring the song “Misery Business” by Paramore, an American rock band formed in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2004. The song was released in 2007 and hit the #1 spot in the U.K. and #26 on the U.S. Billboard that same year. Instead of showing a video from Paramore, I’m excited to share a Drum Cover version performed by Nandi Bushell, a talented young lady who performed with Foo Fighters in 2021. Nandi Lily Bushell is a 14-year-old South African-born British musician, singer, songwriter, and social media personality.1  I hope you enjoy the video, and have a fantastic Rockin’ Thursday! 🤘🎶.

  1. First off, I’m a huge fan of Paramore—great pick for Rockin’ Thursday Beats! And wow, Nandi’s drumming is incredible. Her talent is truly impressive and so cool to watch!

  2. Misery Business a fascinating history. Great talented drummer BTW. Paramore stopped performing for awhile, then got rid of a controversial line. Also some said Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo copied but I never thought so! I always thought the song and original was powerful even if it was controversial.

    1. Thank you, Phil, I completely agree with you. I need to listen to Olivia Rodrigo and check that version. As a side note, do you know who’s even worse? Bad Bunny. His songs are really offensive. I don’t understand how this guy from Puerto Rico is gaining so much fame in the U.S. He is everywhere. Even former President Obama included him in his playlist with the song “Tití Me Preguntó.” Which has a nice rhythm but horrible/denigrating lyrics. I guess because his songs are in Spanish, people just assume they’re fine.

      1. I have heard of Bad Bunny, though I am not familiar with his music. Based on what you have said, maybe I should leave it that way. Olivia Rodrigo is worth listening to in my opinion at least. She is multi-talented. She put out an album Sour about young lives in the pandemic which really took off. Best wishes Phil

          1. I know but truthfully I don’t hear the similarity. But there was alot of buzz by fans of Paramore at the time. Also Olivia was pretty young when she did this and had some help from producers. So maybe the producers did use the Paramore track as a starting point. I just don’t hear it! But perhaps more importantly it was amicable which is always good to hear.
