For today’s Rockin’ Thursday, I’m posting two music videos.
The first one is from Blondie, an American rock band formed in New York City in 1974 by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. They have several great songs, but two of my favorites are “Call Me,” released in January 1980, which reached the #1 spot the same year, and “Maria,” released in January 1999. “Maria” reached #1 in the UK and the U.S. Top 100 the same year.
The second one is going to be in Spanish. Growing up in Puerto Rico, I had the privilege of listening to some amazing songs in both English and Spanish, across all genres really, but Rock en Español was fascinating to me during my college years. Today, I’m including one of the best rock bands in Latin America.
Maná is a Mexican pop rock band formed in 1981. One of their best-known songs is “Oye Mi Amor,” released in September 1992.
I hope you enjoy the videos and have a great Rockin’ Thursday!
Fantastic choices as usual Edward! Love them 😊

Great choices for Rockin’ Thursday! Blondie’s ‘Maria’ is such an iconic track, and it’s awesome to see ‘Oye Mi Amor’ by Maná featured. I love how you’re showcasing both English and Spanish rock. Thanks for the musical journey!

Blondie was all over the airwaves when I was in college. I’m still a big fan.

I love “Call Me” – what an anthem! But I’d forgotten entirely about “Maria”. Thanks for the intro to Maná. 😎

You’re welcome, Vicki. I was debating between “Call Me” and “Maria,” but I was feeling more on the “Maria” side today.
