Ed’s Notes

We had an amazing weekend in Wisconsin enjoying 4th of July events and celebrating my birthday. I can’t believe that I’m 51; time flies indeed, but I’m happy to be alive.

We stayed at the Kalahari Resorts, and we loved the place. It’s the perfect option regardless of the weather. The weekend started cloudy and rainy, so we enjoyed the indoor waterpark, which is amazing. The weather on Saturday was pretty awesome, so we took advantage of the clear skies and sunny day and spent the day in their outdoor waterpark.

We drove around Wisconsin Dells, which is a beautiful place with tons of stuff to do. We came home with some Wisconsin cheese and a case of their famous Spotted Cow beer. The beer is excellent, so there is no way that we are going to visit Wisconsin and return home empty-handed.

Over the weekend, we read some bad news about Ann Wilson, the frontwoman of Heart, being diagnosed with cancer. I’m a big fan of Ann and was sad to hear the news. They canceled their Royal Flush tour, so I’m glad we saw them in Chicago. She underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth and is recovering. She is also undergoing chemotherapy. I hope she recovers quickly so she can get back to rocking again.

I’m currently reading “The History of Philosophy” by A.C. Grayling and encountered this Stoic idea:

“Living well consists in rationally choosing those things that are good, and those things that are appropriate when consistent with things that are good, and the choices will be governed by seeking to conform to nature.”

It’s so good and definitely worth meditating on.

Finally, while recovering from this mini-vacation, I had the chance to re-engage with my WordPress community for the past two days, and it felt good to read posts from my WP friends.

This introvert is fully recovered and ready to blog.

  3. Always love your posts. Glad you and the family enjoyed Wisconsin. Breaks are necessary. They keep us grounded. I wouldn’t come back with beer, but definitely with the cheese. Time moves faster the older we get. Enjoy while you can!

  4. Happy belated birthday! 😊 sounds like you had a great time but also needed that recharge, as all us introverts often do (feeling it over here with all the work this week). Ready to hide away! 😂 Thanks for the quote you shared, definitely a great idea to meditate on in some soothing solitude! 🙏
