Rockin’ Thursday XIV

Led Zeppelin was an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received numerous awards during their lifetime. Today, I’m featuring “Stairway to Heaven”. The song was released in 1971 and is regarded as one of the greatest rock songs of all time in American culture. In 2012, they received The Kennedy Center Honors, and the live tribute during the event was magnificent. Heart performed the song, and it included Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham who died in 1980, in the drums. The performance was outstanding. The guitar solo and drums around 4:55 minutes were spectacular, not to mention Ann Wilson’s heavenly vocals (sorry, I’m a big fan of that lady). In my opinion, everything was done to perfection. Please notice the reaction of the band members: Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones during the tribute, it was very emotional. I hope you enjoy the video and have a great Rockin’ Thursday!

  1. Ah….this is my ALL-TIME Kennedy Center Honors clip. I remember watching – gah – how could that have been 12 years ago? The faces of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page? A whole other show in and of itself. And I’m with you, Edward, about Ann Wilson. Thanks for the beautiful music break this afternoon! 💕

    1. You’re welcome. Time is passing by so fast; that’s why I’m going to Heart’s concert in about a week or so in Chicago. Ann is 73, and Nancy is 70, so I want to make sure I catch one of their concerts before they stop touring.
