Spring has joyfully arrived at the Ortiz residence! Delighted to share a snapshot of our lively Hyacinth warmly greeting the world.

Here is a quote to remind us of the importance of simplifying our lives for greater enjoyment and appreciation:
“We are the conductors of our own lives. If we flatter ourselves that we can master every experience, then conduct life like an orchestra, we will soon discover that the players have minds of their own. Because life is inherently unpredictable, there is no clear score to follow. If we elect to make our performance more complex than it need be, we strain our ability as conductors, placing all our attention on controlling and consequently forgetting to listen to the music. We simplify not to master life but to savor it.” (P.31)
Spiritual Simplicity, David Young

Nice. Let me compliment with Goofery Chaucer’s opening lines from ‘The Prologue’
Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote,
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licóur
Of which vertú engendred is the flour;

There are actually two, but they are so close together that they look like one. You have to get really close to notice.

Hush now… let’s just enjoy a spring miracle! (Just joking – my science brain thought that might be the case, but I couldn’t tell from the photo). Incredibly beautiful regardless; enjoy! Linda x

I know, but you know what? It’s a miracle that they’re still alive after 3-4 days of low temperatures, including snow.

Simplication is a work in process. I started a few years back. I see things getting simpler decluttering. If I haven’t used it in 6 months, pass it on if it can be reused. Reusing things I already have and and not buying new just because. I also really question what I buy now. Do I need it and am I going to use it? This is my take on simplification. I believe it applies to every area of our lives. Thank you for sharing, Ed. I love spring. It brings to me a resolution to clean things up. By the way, I focus on the most critical area first. Some things wait until next spring.

Thank you, and you are absolutely right. Simplification takes time. I also question what I buy, and I have a 3-7 day cooling period where I really think about it before buying anything.

Yes, I’m really happy about it. I’m even considering adding a few more flowers like tulips and others. My motivation is quite high at the moment, so we’ll see. Perhaps I can post some pictures next year as well. I’m currently in long-term planning mode. 😃

Yes, and I received a book titled, “The Power of Plants – Plant Care is Self-Care.” It says that “caring for plants can soothe stress and be a calming mindfulness practice.” I can definitely vouch for that. It’s really calming and awesome.

Yeah, I was watching the news, and there is some wicked weather across the U.S. Well, stay warm. Coffee, hot chocolate, or Rum should do the trick. 😁

Coffee for today. I have to get up early for my new job tomorrow. Rum might leave me a bit less than ideal. lol
I’ll save that for the end of the week to toast surviving 😄
