Rockin’ Thursday LVIII

Today is Siblings Day. This U.S. holiday was conceived by Claudia Evart in 1995 to honor the memory of her brother and sister. Inspired by the loss of her siblings, Alan (age 36) and Lisette (age 19), at a young age, she created the Siblings Day Foundation with the aim of establishing a National Siblings Day to be celebrated annually on April 10—Lisette’s birthday.1

In honor of siblings everywhere, I’m featuring “Magic Man” by the American rock band Heart. It came out in 1976 and was written by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. The song hit the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard charts that same year.

I hope you enjoy the video and have a wonderful, Rockin’ Thursday!

  1. I know some may disagree and not to upset those who cannot have more children , but if you do decide to have an only child it is a decision that will affect future generations. Siblings are a blessing, mostly and a support. There will be family around hopefully for the the aunts and uncles who don’t have children and support from aunts and uncles. It can be hard to be the only child carrying your parents hopes and dreams or supporting them later in life. And of course we can only have cousins if parents have more than one child.

Yes it’s good to have a siblings day.

    1. Great point—and as an only child, I’m definitely not offended by your comment. We also have just one child. There are many factors that influence the decision to have only one child or none at all. But to add a little humor, I’m counting on those with ten or more kids to keep the population going!

      1. Thanks, my sister is a fabulous aunt to quite a few, blood relatives and others, better than their real parents including me ha ha! We are not a prolific family at all, but between siblings and cousins we have replaced ourselves.
