Today, I’m featuring Patti Smith, an American singer, songwriter, poet, painter, author, and photographer. One of her best songs, “Because the Night,” was released in 1978, reaching #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 in the United Kingdom the same year. Each generation is “raised” by their particular kind of music. Our fondest memories come with music in the background. What one-of-a kind music raised us!
It’s different now.
I hope our music doesn’t die with our generation.

You’re so right, Selma. I think good music is never going to die. New generations will continue to discover it and carry it forward, just like 10,000 Maniacs did with this song, making it a hit again in 1993.

Great choice for Rockin Thursday. I never knew Bruce Springsteen co-wrote that with her. And to see this video with Sarah on Piano was really awesome.

Thanks for the memory! Still a great song! Just watching the MTV VMAs. Very talented, energetic folks for sure. But for whatever reason, they don’t really make much music like this anymore.
