Rockin’ Thursday XXXII

Today, I’m featuring Patti Smith, an American singer, songwriter, poet, painter, author, and photographer. One of her best songs, “Because the Night,” was released in 1978, reaching #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 in the United Kingdom the same year. The song was written by her and Bruce Springsteen. The video features Sarah McLachlan on the piano. I hope you enjoy the video and have an awesome Rockin’ Thursday!

  1. Each generation is “raised” by their particular kind of music. Our fondest memories come with music in the background. What one-of-a kind music raised us!
    It’s different now.
I hope our music doesn’t die with our generation.
This is just so beautiful, Edward. Thanks for sharing. Glad I live in this “old” music. Bless you.

    1. You’re so right, Selma. I think good music is never going to die. New generations will continue to discover it and carry it forward, just like 10,000 Maniacs did with this song, making it a hit again in 1993.

    1. Thank you, Vicki. It’s funny that you mentioned a sleepy Friday because while I was waiting for my coffee this morning, I closed my eyes, and my wife asked me if I was taking a nap. So yep, definitely a sleepy Friday morning. 😆

  2. Great choice for Rockin Thursday. I never knew Bruce Springsteen co-wrote that with her. And to see this video with Sarah on Piano was really awesome.
