As you start preparing your reading goals for 2024, remember that, “it is not enough to read widely. One must also read well. One must read virtuously. Virtue can most simply be understood as excellence. Reading well is, in itself, an act of virtue, or excellence, and it is also a habit that cultivates more virtue in return.β – Karen Swallow Prior, On Reading Well.
Read well, my friends.

Oh wow! Does this strike home!
A relative loved to read. One day, I asked “What was the book about?”. She looked at me as if I had asked a question irrelevant to our conversation. She replied “I’m not sure. I’ll read it again someday.”
My thoughts: What a waste of time.

Amazing. I agree with you. Itβs a waste of time if a person is unable to gain knowledge after reading a book or an article. More importantly, itβs a missed opportunity for a good conversation.
