Book Recommendations

I read mostly nonfiction books and want to share a list of books that helped me over the years.

“Quiet” by Susan Cain – If you are an introvert and want to understand what it is and learn how to embrace it. This book changed my life. Back cover information, “In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts – from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. Passionately argued, superbly researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people. Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves.”

“The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg – How to break bad habits and start good ones.

“The Quick & Easy Way to Effective Speaking” by Dale Carnegie and “In the Spotlight Overcome Your fear of Public Speaking and Performing” by Janet Esposito – Both about public speaking.

“Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” by Susan Jeffers, “The Power of Full Engagement” by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz, and “Assertive Management” by Ronald Johnson – self-empowerment

“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and “First Things First” both by Stephen Covey and “Getting Things Done” by David Allen – Life prioritization and time management.

“Who Moved my Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson – Deals with changes in life.

“The Fight” by John White and “Basic Christianity” by John Stott – if you are a Christian and looking for some good and practical theology.
